Hults Bruk axes have been made in Sweden since 1697. Yeah, since before the USA was even a country. Let that sink in. They might know a thing or two about making axes. And amazingly they are still handmade. As you can see, in order to keep up with demand, like most modern blacksmiths, they use the aid of power hammers and gas-powered forges. Can you imagine the learning curve to getting one of these axe heads right?
Once the axe head is complete, they use the best lumber in the world for the handle - American hickory. They have it shipped all the way over from Kentucky. It's expensive for them, but it is known the world over as the best for axe handles and only the best is acceptable for the craftsmen at Hults Bruk.

EACH OF THESE AXES ARE MADE THE SAME WAY THEY'VE BEEN MADE FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS:
- The axe head is hand-forged and made from Swedish axe steel in a foundry that has been in operation since 1697.
- As part of the hand grinding production process, the steel is struck multiple times thereby increasing its density and resulting in more durability of the axe.
- The head is constructed in such a way that there is a tempered zone along the edge. This is designed to hold a very sharp edge even after many sharpenings.
- The straight hickory handle is treated with linseed oil.
- Each axe comes with a traditional leather protective sheath. (Replacement sheaths are available) The axe is shipped in its own storage box and comes with a detailed users manual.
